PIANIST | ARRANGER | COMPOSER
ABOUT ME - After being born (1993) and raised in The Hague, Robert started playing the piano at the age of 6. After classical lessons and fooling around a lot, he started taking jazz lessons at the age of 16. After finishing high school he was admitted to the preliminary year at the Conservatory of Amsterdam where he studied with Karel Boehlee. In 2012 Robert moved to Rotterdam to attend the Jazz department of Codarts. There he studies with Rob van Bavel, Johan Clement, Simon Rigter, Jarmo Hoogendijk, Ben van den Dungen, Ab Schaap, Luis Rabello, Frans van Geest and several others. From october 2014 he attended the Jazz Institut Berlin (JIB) for an exchange period, where he will study with Wolfgang Kohler. In 2016 he graduated from Codarts, he is now working as a pianist, composer, arranger and teacher in several different projects and fields. Once a month he organises a jamsession in the Rotterdamse Schouwburg in Rotterdam called Jazzy Nights (facebook). At the session opener he shared the stage with Dutch greats like: Benjamin Herman, Jasper Blom, Simon Rigter, Reinier Baas, Martijn van Iterson, Marjorie Barnes, Jan van Duikeren, Ruud Breuls and Sjoerd Dijkhuizen. He performed at several festivals and venues in the Netherlands and beyond like North Sea Jazz, Bimhuis, PaRaDox, de Melkweg, Breda Jazz, Jazz in Duketown, Amersfoort Jazz and the North Sea Jazz Club. |
